Raising body temperature can enhance immunity
The weather has been changing a lot recently, and with the virus raging, it’s hard not to catch a cold! Recently, people around me (myself included) are either suffering from a cold, or it has taken a long time to recover. They are really frightened by this wave of viruses! If you want to avoid getting infected, in addition to eating well, sleeping enough, and exercising to enhance your resistance, raising your "body temperature" can also improve your own immunity!
Why does raising body temperature enhance immunity?
According to research, when immune cells are functioning normally, the human body's body temperature usually exceeds 36.5°C. People whose body temperature is less than 36°C indicate poor immunity. For every 1°C increase in body temperature, immunity can be enhanced 5 to 6 times. On the contrary, every time the body temperature drops by 1℃, the immunity provided by white blood cells will be reduced by 37%.
Our blood circulation system is an important tissue for maintaining body temperature. When the body temperature is high, the blood flow speed will accelerate, and white blood cells can detect abnormalities in the body more quickly and respond. So don’t be too nervous when you have a fever. In fact, this is the process in which the immune system is trying its best to kill viruses and bacteria. On the contrary, a drop in body temperature will cause the basal metabolic rate to drop, the blood flow to slow down, and the work efficiency of white blood cells to be greatly reduced.
Why does modern human body temperature drop?
A recent study by Stanford University found that human basal body temperature has dropped from 37°C in the past to 36.3°C. In other words, human body temperature is continuously declining. Even with the advancement of medical science, the number of sick people continues to increase.
Modern people generally lack exercise, have high stress, overeat, improper medication, and stay in air-conditioned rooms for long periods of time, which are all causes of body temperature drop. Next week I will talk to you about what you can do to warm up your body, thereby improving your immunity and preventing diseases!
