Is adrenaline an angel or a devil?

Many athletes know how to use adrenaline to achieve good results for themselves, because proper secretion of adrenaline can improve muscle strength and concentration, allowing them to perform well and even exceed their potential. It can be said to be our strong backing. On the contrary, excessive secretion of adrenaline can become a life-threatening enemy, because adrenaline is a "stress hormone."

In order to cope with the stress in life, the human body secretes adrenaline and cortisol every day. It secretes more during the day and gradually decreases at night. They act on the circulatory system, endocrine system, immune system, etc. of the whole body to resist various stresses and are good things to protect us. If the concentration in the blood is still very high at night, it will weaken immunity and cause various diseases, and may also lead to obesity, diabetes, and even depression.

All the organs in our body are controlled by the autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system is divided into "sympathetic nervous system" and "parasympathetic nervous system". The sympathetic nervous system is responsible for activities during the day, and the parasympathetic nervous system is responsible for rest at night. Excessive secretion of adrenaline will cause autonomic nervous system disorders and damage physical and mental health.

In other words, stress hormones are angels during the day, but become devils at night. Therefore, we should give our "body and mind" a good rest so that we can moderately secrete adrenaline and cortisol during the day to improve work performance, and disappear at night to maintain sleep quality.

There are many successful people around me. They are very busy at work during the day, but they still know how to use their rest time to focus on people and things that they are interested in. They use their rest time outside of work to recharge themselves, which can lead to more and better performance at work. If you want to switch between work and rest modes, adrenaline is the important switch. Next week, I will talk to you about how to turn it off easily!
