Mindfulness Meditation
Stress-induced obesity can be said to be a common disease of civilization among modern urbanites. This is especially true for people who have been in a high-pressure environment for a long time, work a tight schedule, and don't get enough sleep. When we are under high pressure for a long time, our body will secrete more cortisol (that is, the stress hormone), which will not only make us emotionally agitated, but also affect the quality of sleep. Lack of sleep will in turn aggravate the stress. This vicious cycle makes people easily feel tired, and then seek comfort from high-sugar and high-fat foods, leading to weight gain.
In fact, stress obesity is a manifestation of endocrine disorders!
If you eat less and move more to lose weight, the effect will be limited. On the contrary, it may increase stress and cause the opposite effect. To put it simply, stress obesity is actually a warning sign of physical and mental imbalance. Instead of over-dieting or exercising diligently, it is better to start from the root cause (stress source) to improve sleep quality and emotional management. When you lose weight and gain weight, you should seek help from a professional doctor.
Today I want to talk to you about what can I do for myself outside of professional medical care when facing stress?
"Mindfulness meditation" is one of the ways to eliminate stress and physical and mental fatigue.
The so-called mindfulness meditation is to consciously focus on the "now" and tell yourself: "I am in the present, I am in the present!" to eliminate other unnecessary thoughts or ideas. There are many methods of mindfulness meditation, and I highly recommend “body scan meditation”.
Focus your awareness on your body, close your eyes gently, and scan carefully from the top of your head to the soles of your feet to make sure there are no tight, stuck or uncomfortable areas. If you feel heavy and uncomfortable, it means you are overly tense. Try to exhale the tension along with your breathing. A very important point is that when performing body scan meditation, do not criticize your body, but experience it and feel it with an accepting attitude. At the same time, you may also release it, consciously take care of your body, and eliminate fatigue!
